Appraisal & Analysis
REWIND
By Daisy Williams
Rewind was a whirlwind of emotion, trauma and excitement. Set in modern day London this incredible film is so poignant within todays society. Some may argue a slow start but, I believe it was necessary to take a while setting the scene between the protagonist and his foes. The introduction of time was absolutely gob-smacking when his dead mother returned alive after her death 10 years ago. The film cleverly utilises time and its power try to stop James ,our protagonist, from saving his friends from the drug cartel. The film really suspends our fears within the dangers of the drug cartel from the death of his mother due to drug usage. This movie is full of drug use hence its age rating but arguable should be higher with the foul language too. The drama really climaxes at the end of the movie where James is sat on Beachy Head, a famous cliff know for suicide, which foreshadows James' thoughts as nothing can save him now. However, in the plot twist, when James knows the drug cartel are after him He realises he is the one controlling the time. Almost turned Marvel hero, James notices he is the one dreaming for his mothers return: so she returned etc. There is an immense amount of joy within the ending scene. A massive recommend from me! Many have questioned the film posters link to the movie ironically. But to me once watched the movie it is nothing but obvious- as the underlying saviour and foe of this film is time, it is running out, it can be changed, it can be manipulated you just have to realise how to, of which James eventually does.
